Legal Matters

Enduring Power of Attorney (EPA)
If you already have an EPA it is still valid, although it has been replaced by the new Lasting Power of Attorney as detailed below.

Lasting Power of Attorney (LPoA)
Introduced in October 2007, this comes in two forms - health and welfare, and financial (property and money). Whereas the EPA was legal from outset even before registration, the Lasting Power of Attorney has no validity until it has been registered with the Office of the Public Guardian, and the appropriate fee paid. Although the procedure is more complex and costly than the old style EPA we would recommend clients arrange this for their own protection.

Contracts with Care Providers
We always recommend that these should be read carefully and legal advice sought where necessary.

Making a will
We recommend that if not already arranged you consult your solicitor as soon as possible.

Trusts and Estate Planning
Trusts can be used to organise your estate in a manner that you feel benefits you and your family.
